Created in just six days?

Genesis 1:1-2:3, Exodus 20:11, Exodus 31:17
There seems to be some controversy over whether or not the Lord God made the world in six days or not (for it must be noted that He rested on the seventh, which means everything had to be done by the end of the sixth day).  The verses above dictate that there should not be any doubt that it was a literal six days.  Let's look at these verses in some detail.
First of all, the account that we are most familiar with.  Genesis 1 is where it all began.  The Bible starts with "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."  This leaves absolutely no room for an evolutionary point of view.  Evolution is a dangerous thing to believe, for it involves ignoring the power of God to accurately record these events.  Another thing to consider, is that when this world was created, it was dark, there was no land mass, and there was no life whatsoever.  God created everything from nothing.  It is interesting to see what is called for first.  The spoken word of God is "Let there be light" and the text says "and there was light."  There was no delay in God speaking and there being light.  He spoke, it happened.  John 8:12 says, "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."
Again and again in the passage in question (Genesis 1) it says, "And the evening and the morning were the first (second, third etc) day."  If the creation did not take place in literal days, why was this included?  If we say that it took thousands of years for God to create everything, then we are calling God a liar.  Hebrews 6:18 says, "...it was impossible for God to lie..." and Titus 1:2 says, "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;"  Further, Numbers 23:19 says, "God is not a man, that he should lie."  By these verses we see that God is incapable of lying.  Therefore if God is incapable of lying, then if He says that He created all things in six days, who are we to argue that He didn't?  "Where was thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding." (Job 38:4).
Finally, God mentions that He created everything in 6 days in at least two other places.  First, when giving the Ten Commandments, He tells them to "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy" (Exodus 20:8) and then He tells them why (v11).  Then we find in chapter 31 that as Moses prepares to leave the mountain of God and return to the people, the Lord reminds Him that Israel was to keep the sabbath (v16) and again tells them why (v17).
So you see from this that there is ample evidence that God created everything we see (and everything we cannot see) in six literal days.
God said it, I believe it, that settles it!
